Part of the North Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium

The Municipal Education and Training Consortium is an education and development organisation owned by the municipalities of the province of North Karelia.

North Karelia College Outokumpu is the third biggest college of all the colleges belonging to North Karelia Municipal Education and Training Consortium. There are approximately 570 students from all over Finland and from abroad. The students are looked after by a staff of about 60 full time employees and several guest lecturers.

Vocational education and study programmes

The purpose of the vocational training is that students can rely on their competence to cope with the wide range of tasks in their field, to find a job in the increasingly competitive labour market and to qualify for further studies.

The vocational qualifications are
• practical nurse
• machinist
• electronics assembler
• printing assistant
• design assistant
• dancer
• visual artisan
• artisan
• media assistant: graphic design, game development, sound production, theater and event technology, radio and TV work

All degrees include 20 credits of on-the-job-learning which means that students carry out studies at a work place “in real life”. It is also possible to accomplish the on-the-job-learning abroad.

International education

One of the important targets of our college is that our students will get in touch with international affairs. We have partner schools and training places all over the Europe: Estonia, Germay, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and United Kingdom.

We are participating in eight EU- and other educational projects (Leonardo, Comenius, Nordplus Junior) which offer possibilities for students get financial aid to go abroad or meet foreign students here in Outokumpu. We also give help and advice if you want to go abroad individually by your own cost.
